Affirming Gender Expansive Youth - Name/Pronoun Workshop!
Do you have a young person in your life who recently started using a new affirmed name and/or pronoun/s? Does your extended family need help successfully using your child’s new name/pronoun in conversation?
We want to help! Let’s learn together during our upcoming Gender Inclusive Schools’ Affirming Gender Expansive Youth - Name/Pronoun Workshops on March 15th at 6:00 pm and 7:00 CST! Both sessions are interactive and will be 30-minutes in length.
As we continue expanding our own personal understanding of gender/gender identity, we need to quickly arrive at a place where we aren’t causing harm to the people we care about! Practice, practice, practice! Getting affirmed names and pronouns correct is an amazing way to show the young people in your life that you respect and honor their identities!
Topics covered in this session will include:
*A Brief history of the singular “they” with talking points and resources to share with your community
*Understanding neopronouns
*Tips for affirming youth who use multiple pronouns and pronoun combinations
*What to do, and what not to do, if you misgender or “dead naming” someone you care about
*15 minutes of guided practice in using the young person in your life’s affirmed name/pronoun and resources/tools to practice on your own!
